I finally nabbed myself an Xbox 360 yesterday. It came bundled with Project Gotham Racing 3 and Felicity picked up a copy of Ghost Recon, so we've been taking turns having our minds blown. My first impressions are as follows:
Good:
- Console, accessories, system menus, and even the packaging are beautiful and elegant, like some kind of Apple product, only it came from Microsoft, which is just weird
- Wireless controllers are sweet
- 720p/1080i video rocks my socks
- Dolby Digital 5.1 audio rocks my socks
- Graphics (at least on the games I've played so far) are mind-blowing
- Built-in support for streaming video and audio from other computers on the network is sweet
Bad:
- Power supply is a monstrous, ugly beast with massive cords as thick as my thumb
- Tilting the Xbox 360 while a game is inside (which the manual warns against, but which I did anyway without thinking) results in a horrific GRRRRCHUNKACHUNKACHUNKACHUNKACSCCCRRRRRR noise and instantly converts the game disc into a lovely new coaster
- Game lineup is still sorely lacking over 5 months after the console's release
