SF Bay Area bandwidth

Friday March 23, 2007 @ 05:24 PM (PDT)

In preparation for our impending move to the San Francisco Bay Area, I'm starting to look into Internet connectivity options. Do you live in the Bay Area? Do you have cable, FiOS or DSL? Are you happy with it or would you recommend something else? If you wonderful people would be so kind as to leave comments or email me with your advice, I'll love you forever.

DSL

I had DSL from SBC (now AT&T). It was plenty good enough, but I'm much happier with Comcast now.

Comcast tends to have the most reliable network in the Bay Area. Fast connections and pretty good service. I don't know about phone support as I have rarely had to call them.

I live in Berkely and every so often Comcast keeps increasing my speed.

FiOS is not available in the Bay Area at this time, so you're stuck with Comcast for now. Once they roll out their Super Modem in the next couple of years, then you can debate on going with them or Verizon (assuming they're in the Bay Area at that time)
