Microsoft to push IE7 as an automatic update

Monday January 21, 2008 @ 11:42 AM (PST)

Beginning February 12th, Microsoft will make IE7 an automatic update for all Windows XP users except those who manually opt out. This is the best news I've heard all week. Good riddance, IE6. Burn in hell.

That made me really happy to hear that. Now only if they'd release IE8 and do the same.

IE7 broke my work computer after it downloaded as an automatic update. It crippled our filing / database software (which it shouldn't have a gadblasted thing to do with!), led me on a wild goose chase for almost a week, and no amount of fiddling with security settings would make it leave my network drives alone.

This should get you in an even better mood. By the way, have you watched 'I Am Legend' yet? ;o)

They're still making updates to that thing?

Didn't they already do that months ago? What's the difference this time?

Your new employer may not appreciate the anti-MS sentiments... :)
