Gmail has stolen my heart

Thursday August 12, 2004 @ 03:42 PM (PDT)

What with not trusting wonko.com to be able to maintain my Pine session for the last few days, I’ve been using Gmail pretty extensively. I’m becoming attached to it.

The mail management features are really growing on me. In particular, I was skeptical about the concept of having all my archived mails stored in one flat folder, but I’ve found Gmail’s labeling and threading features to be far more convenient than the collection of IMAP folders I use for my wonko.com mail account.

It is also the smoothest, most elegant web application I’ve ever used. Drool.

Update: And this is just too cool.

It is really good with mailing lists too...

I was worried about the storage also, but I absolutely love their filtering and labeling system. I only use gmail now (and my yahoo, which is only there for me to throw known spam at).

Bah.. this reminds me:

Wonko, when are you going to (or do you even plan to) fix the code so I can highlight properly? It would really help when links are not posted with the link tags. That way I don't have to retype the whole URL over again.

Huh?

Highlighting works fine for me in Firefox. What browser are you using?

yea, I noticed this in IE. It's not wonko's code that is the problem, it is really just IE. Happens on my site in IE too, it seems to happen when you arrange content around using CSS.

Ahh.. Yes, I am using IE (I am at work). And I'm kicking myself right now for not just assuming it was IE's fault like usual. Oh well, I guess I just have to deal with that fact here at work.

not to troll, but it's not a CSS thing. My site is arranged completely with CSS 'http://67.163.160.106/' and text highlights properly in IE.

It is actually an error in the CSS here. I set up Poseidon and was re-doing the CSS and inadvertently fixed it. I think it had to do with multiple position statements that aren't needed if I remember correctly. Something with containers. Wonko's CSS is a bit quirky (but then I'm hardly a CSS expert and had to use google a hell of a lot in my adventures).
