This morning when I left for work I was delighted to find bright yellow markings all over the ground in front of the houses on our street. The markings all ran back to the fiber optic junction box next to the sidewalk.
Eric R. and I first discovered the box (which is fully connected to an actual fiber strand, but isn't being used yet) a few weeks ago. It looks like Verizon is finally getting around to running lines from the junction box to the houses.
I can almost smell the bandwidth!

I can almost smell the filtered Internet!
I could have had FiOS. While the opportunity to get 15Mb/s down is something that demands attention, the fact that I can't get a static IP and I can't run my own server made me pass. That and they completely rip out the copper and give you a piece of CPE to run your phone. No thanks.
I have FIOS and 5 statics.
I have FIOS 15/2 and 5 IP's. $89/month
Re: I have FIOS and 5 statics.
Nice website, Mike. I swear I've seen it before, though.
Wow
You guys are lucky, I'd love to get some fibre in a home package instead of depending on the slowly rusting copper outside my house
What is it they say?
Oh... and it runs on a FIOS connection.

I'm located in Stark St., and people a couple of blocks away got it almost 2 months ago... damn!
