An otherworldly evening rain

Wednesday October 22, 2003 @ 10:56 PM (PDT)

Sunset

When I drove home from work today, a light rain was falling and the sun was setting and the clouds and the rain and the sun all conspired to create an incredibly unique lighting situation. Everything was golden and shiny, like in a Michael Bay movie, and there were two rainbows right next to each other, seemingly so close to me that I briefly entertained the notion of searching for the two pots of gold they promised.

Luckily, I had my camera with me. I snapped a few quick shots, but they can’t really convey the atmosphere. It was eerily beautiful. I was stunned. Things like this need to happen more often.

Ah, I wondered if you noticed those. When you were driving south on Cedar Hills around 5:45 pm, and all.

They were gorgeous! The inner one was the brightest I've seen in a while, and you could see their whole length -- I couldn't help but think of the Navajo sky gods with their feet at one end of the rainbow and the rest of them at the other.

Actually it was closer to 6:15pm. Why, did you think you saw me?

I didn't remember the time, precisely, but I saw you. Turning left into Bvtn Mall/Cedar Hills Crossing perhaps, or at any rate going south on Cedar Hills. I was going to the comic book shop. You were in your car, which was your car, and you were looking startlingly like you. I'm pretty clear on the whole thing. :P

Strange. I definitely did turn left into the Beaverton Mall area (two of the pictures were even taken while I sat in the left turn lane), but I'm pretty sure it was after 6PM, because I distinctly remember helping a coworker fix a problem with her computer just as I was starting to leave at 6...

Of course, I could have my days confused. Maybe I did that the day before yesterday. I don't know.

As I said, I don't really know what time it was.

I was guestimating a time to sound more psychic and impressive.
