Ah, unemployment. We meet again.

Forefront let all their employees go yesterday. All two of us. It wasn't exactly a surprise, but it means I have to find myself another job, which is just about my least favorite thing ever. It's probably a good thing, though. I was feeling stagnant anyway.

If you or anyone you know is looking for a kickass web developer, system administrator, or Jack of all trades, I'm your man. Have a look at my resume. Something in the Portland, Oregon area would be nice, but I'd be willing to relocate if I got an offer for a job I thought I'd enjoy.

That sucks about Forefront. I'm sure you'll find something you like. In the meantime, just think how much more free time you'll have. :-)

about relocating, drop me a note. seriously..

Why did you not proactively look for a job?

Several reasons. For one thing, if I had left the company, they would have had serious problems. I was their sole programmer and IT guy, so my leaving would have resulted in servers being left unmanaged and several projects suddenly no longer having a developer. For another, I liked the job. It wasn't terribly exciting and it wasn't making me rich, but as the sole tech guy in a very small company, I had a lot of freedom to do things my way without people asking questions. That's very rare.

That's not to say I wasn't prepared. I kept my resume up to date, I kept my ears open for possible job leads from friends, and I began saving money so I'd have a cushion to fall back on.
