The eclectic musings of a bitter software engineer.

An Artsy Black and White Film

Sunday May 02, 2004 @ 03:02 AM (PDT)

Today Candice threw a "creative outlet" party at her apartment. In addition to the usual crew, she also invited a ton of people from school, all female. The abundance of [I generally don't like meeting new people, especially not lots of them at once.|strangers] and the threat of being forced to participate in crochet, beadwork, and the like prompted me to decline the invitation. Steve begged me to go so he wouldn't be the only guy there, but I refused. "Too social," I said, "and I'm only creative in antisocial ways."

This afternoon, Steve called me from Candice's place. Nobody showed up. They were all alone. I felt terrible. Poor Candice had been looking forward to this all week, and she'd begged us all to go, and we'd all declined (except for Steve, who couldn't have even if he'd wanted to, what with being her boyfriend and all). So I told Steve I'd come over. I grabbed my camera on a whim, thinking maybe Steve and Candice and I could come up with something creative to do and then maybe Candice wouldn't feel so bad.

By the time I got there, people had shown up. Steve apologized profusely for inadvertently tricking me into coming, but I couldn't very well leave after having already walked in the door. So I tried to make the best of it.

This is the result:

Very nice and artsy. So who is this "B'frame Deecoder Lag" guy anyway? The director? I thought you made it all by yourself! :o)

You might find this test interesting. I took it, just for the heck of it, and because it came up on the INTP mailing list. Here are my results:

  • Paranoid: 38%
  • Schizoid: 78%
  • Schizotypal: 58%
  • Antisocial: 30%
  • Borderline: 46%
  • Histrionic: 34%
  • Narcissistic: 26%
  • Avoidant: 54%
  • Dependent: 34%
  • Obsessive-Compulsive: 30%

I guess I'm firmly in the schizoid spectrum, which shouldn't really surprise anyone who knows me. What's your disorder? ;o)

So here's the link to the test.

Paranoid 22%

Antisocial 34%
Borderline 26%
Histrionic 34%
Narcissistic 62%

I'm looking fairly healthy except for narcissism. And they didn't ask whether I really AM pretty, smart, talented and well-liked, so they don't understand I'm telling the TRUTH! :p

The backwards stuff made me laugh and laugh. It made Steve look pretty crazy though.

I didn't see any strangers and beads.

But hey, Candice got you to be creative, see?!

Hmm. If you're seeing something that says "b frame decoder lag", then there's an encoding error that must have slipped past me.

You didn't see strangers and beads because every time I pointed the camera at them they squeaked and I got scolded.

Candice allowed me to use shots of her hand, though. And she's the murky blob sitting on the couch in the shot through the Pyrex bowl.

Well, if it's any consolation, you're way below the average INTP "schizoidness," at least when it comes to those frequenting the mailing lists. Then, the fact that someone would frequent a mailing list might be an indication that they're withdrawn from the world. What came first; the schizoid INTP or the mailing list?

I think it's only the first frame that shows the encoding error message, by the way.

Such a systematic approach and conscientious thoroughness, and you're not even obsessive-compulsive. What's up with that? ;o)

I'm just too good to be caught by questions like they had..

Actually, the questions they had that probably influenced the obsessive/compulsive rating were mostly about much larger scale organization and behaviour - behviours which were smaller in scale, such as what I do, were not covered by any of the questions as far as I could tell..

I get "Error downloading codec". And then music. No pictures, black and white or otherwise.

Download and install XviD from here. That should solve the problem.
